Jochen Hornung stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hippo Bucher's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. When Hippo Bucher came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Maschhaupt FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hippo Bucher couldn't finish the play. If Mario Brockschmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Hippo Bucher's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jochen Hornung was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. When Mehmet Kuhn came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Meuselwitz fans jumped to their feet. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Hippo Bucher put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jochen Hornung. After a defensive mix-up in Maschhaupt FC's zone, Mehmet Kuhn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fredo Verheyen came out of the goal and Mehmet Kuhn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 29th minute, Guido Pawellek left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maschhaupt FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Fredo Verheyen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mehmet Kuhn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Ringo Ehrgott hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jochen Hornung showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hippo Bucher, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Mario Brockschmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hippo Bucher to make the kick off. Maschhaupt FC's Fredo Verheyen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Kuhn in the 52nd minute of play. Ephraim Haak might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fredo Verheyen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ephraim Haak ran back to his position shaking his head. Walther Guzikowski hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Jochen Hornung successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 58th minute, Maschhaupt FC's Arne Bauernfeld seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Arne Bauernfeld the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Maschhaupt FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Arne Bauernfeld had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Matthias Ankleider sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maschhaupt FC's goalkeeper Fredo Verheyen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Ephraim Haak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Björn Kunert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jochen Hornung having to interfere. Fredo Verheyen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. After a defensive mix-up in Meuselwitz's zone, Björn Kunert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jochen Hornung came out of the goal and Björn Kunert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Meuselwitz booed when Maschhaupt FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walther Guzikowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 90 minutes, Ephraim Haak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meuselwitz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ephraim Haak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mehmet Kuhn in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fredo Verheyen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 95th minute, Erdal Neuwinger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Maschhaupt FC defense, Ephraim Haak kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fredo Verheyen. The Maschhaupt FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fredo Verheyen should have stopped the shot. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
