In the 16th match minute, FC Bayern München was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tammo Riepert to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Schrenk in the 17th minute of play forced FC Bayern München's goalkeeper Jakob Piepenburg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Björn Beier received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. The audience was convinced that Dix Kromm's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leon Weniger was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Sandor Funkel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leon Weniger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bayern München.
