Willi Weste made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jörg Wadehn in the 4th minute. Wolf Debus hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 8 minutes into the match, Gramke's goal looked a bit too open when Burkhard Schnitzler came free, but Willi Weste reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 10th match minute, Bortfeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Günther Sporn to maneuver through the defense. Hemmo Ginsberg hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Gramke's Willi Weste played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Burkhard Schnitzler in the 27th minute of play. When Boris Weites fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gramke's protests and gave Boris Weites a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gramke getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Boris Weites hit a great ball. Burkhard Schnitzler hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Jörg Wadehn might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Willi Weste. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jörg Wadehn ran back to his position shaking his head.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Simon Lenhardt made a kick off. Burkhard Schnitzler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ralf-Joachim Blum fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gramke's protests and gave Ralf-Joachim Blum a yellow card for diving instead. Ralf-Joachim Blum hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. A collision led to Bortfeld getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Raimund Ebner hit a great ball. Ralf-Joachim Blum could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Golo Nikoleit made a huge save. In the 71st minute, Burkhard Schnitzler ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Willi Weste was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 75 minutes into the game, Günter Fritz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gramke's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bortfeld the free kick. A collision led to Gramke getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Günter Fritz hit a great ball. Jörg Wadehn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willi Weste having to interfere. Günter Fritz kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Gramke's zone, Burkhard Schnitzler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Willi Weste came out of the goal and Burkhard Schnitzler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jörg Wadehn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bortfeld's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
