Günther Carstensen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ariel Renger in the 10th minute of play. The supporters of Langeln FC booed when Union Berlin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vico Haußdörfer didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Vico Haußdörfer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reik Peeger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frederik Warnke, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Ariel Renger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Günther Carstensen having to interfere. After 24 minutes of play, Union Berlin's Hermann Zwingel made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Günther Carstensen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Günther Carstensen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hermann Zwingel in the 27th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Hermann Zwingel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Union Berlin's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermann Zwingel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Günther Carstensen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 33rd minute, Andy Dittrich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 34 played minutes, Langeln FC's Silvain Buck shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Reik Peeger came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Langeln FC reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Langeln FC's zone, Hermann Zwingel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Günther Carstensen came out of the goal and Hermann Zwingel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Union Berlin's Ariel Renger got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 41 minutes into the game, Union Berlin's Ariel Renger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Günther Carstensen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Frederik Warnke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reik Peeger having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Irvin Krebitz made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Union Berlin getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Felix Herber hit a great ball. If Frederik Warnke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 69 played minutes Langeln FC got a freekick which was hit by Rainer Kehl. 70 minutes into the match, Union Berlin's Flavio Ritter broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Union Berlin's Ariel Renger got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ariel Renger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hermann Zwingel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Union Berlin booed when Langeln FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Meral Saft didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Langeln FC defense, Hermann Zwingel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Günther Carstensen. The Langeln FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Günther Carstensen should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that Union Berlin were the better team. Union Berlin's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
