Marcel Forberger was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecking's goalkeeper Sven Deisler, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 38 minutes, Ergün Molau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CA Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ergün Molau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half CA Boca Juniors were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ergün Molau to make the kick off. If Christoph Hensel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The CA Boca Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when CA Boca Juniors's Ergün Molau looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 84th minute of the match Christoph Hensel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sven Deisler skillfully saved the ball. Henriko Jetter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven Deisler having to interfere. Marcel Forberger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timo-Fabian Korth in the 92nd minute of play. After 93 minutes, Uwe Hinsken made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Ecking's Sven Deisler tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sven Deisler didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when CA Boca Juniors's Uwe Hinsken shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-6 in the ordered_time% minute.
