He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Sven Deisler. Benjamin Fischer's late challenge caught a Ecking's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benjamin Fischer helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Renfert FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Benjamin Fischer hit a great ball. If Tim Rabe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yildiray Abend in the 24th minute of play forced Ecking's goalkeeper Sven Deisler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yildiray Abend made a kick off. The supporters of Ecking booed when Renfert FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Staudt didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 63 minutes, Ubbo Forbrig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Renfert FC and the Ecking players grew even worse after the yellow card.
