The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Horst Dingels got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Buchenberg FSV's zone, Horst Dingels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Thiel came out of the goal and Horst Dingels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 8 played minutes Horst Dingels rounded Buchenberg FSV's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Johann Webermann notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Gräfenroda's Bartolomeo Bank. Bartolomeo Bank was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Thorsten Vollmer fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Buchenberg FSV's protests and gave Thorsten Vollmer a yellow card for diving instead. Thorsten Vollmer kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Thorsten Vollmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Bartolomeo Bank tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Buchenberg FSV's Thomas Thiel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Buchenberg FSV from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Gräfenroda's Horst Dingels slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Thomas Thiel. That made the score 2-1 after 31 minutes of play. The supporters of Gräfenroda booed when Buchenberg FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thorsten Vollmer didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horst Dingels was the one to do the kick off. In the 56thth minute of the game Horst Dingels who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Buchenberg FSV's Thomas Thiel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thomas Thiel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horst Dingels in the 59th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thorsten Vollmer got free with Bartolomeo Bank in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 64 minutes into the game, Josef Heckrath was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gräfenroda's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Buchenberg FSV the free kick. After 65 played minutes Gräfenroda got a freekick which was hit by Josef Heckrath.
