In the 19th minute, Brandon von Dreusche hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 23 minutes, Adam Gatzke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Frankenhausen FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Gatzke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 26th minute, Edmund Hecke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roland Grebe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elmar Schmitz having to interfere. Roland Grebe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Elmar Schmitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roland Grebe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Elmar Schmitz made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmund Hecke in the 39th minute of play forced Frankenhausen FSV's goalkeeper Ulf Frach to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roland Grebe struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Elmar Schmitz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Frankenhausen FSV. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 54th minute Javier Lindlohr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulf Frach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elmar Schmitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roland Grebe in the 57th minute of play. Frankenhausen FSV's Ulf Frach proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Frankenhausen FSV from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Frankenhausen FSV's Ulf Frach got control of the ball when Corvin Veth tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Brandon von Dreusche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horst Jaeschke struck a weak shot in the 87th minute.
