Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gregory Tanner kicked off to start the match. In the 3rd minute, Gregory Tanner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 6 minutes into the game, Benito Hirter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Giorgio Waldburger was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Giubiasco's zone, Jules Schwartz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giorgio Waldburger came out of the goal and Jules Schwartz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gregory Tanner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cecil Buck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Gernet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute of the match Giubiasco got a corner. Freiburg's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Michael Kurt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Chris De Souza charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chris De Souza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Giubiasco booed when Freiburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris De Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 53 minutes of play Freiburg's Chris De Souza was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Giubiasco booed when Freiburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris De Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 55 minutes, Sidney Arter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Giubiasco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Arter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miguel Gernet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 58 in the game by Benito Hirter from a close distance when the talented Giorgio Waldburger managed to make a qualified save. Giubiasco's players were relieved. Benito Hirter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benito Hirter might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Giorgio Waldburger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benito Hirter ran back to his position shaking his head. Dirk Schwaller charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dirk Schwaller the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dirk Schwaller hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Cecil Buck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Gernet in the 72nd minute of the match. If Ronny Niens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Freiburg getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Jan Biland hit a great ball. If Sidney Arter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 81 minutes into the match, Sidney Arter had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cecil Buck. Freiburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sidney Arter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Freiburg's goalkeeper Cecil Buck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Freiburg's zone, Ronny Niens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cecil Buck came out of the goal and Ronny Niens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidney Arter in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cecil Buck saved Freiburg from getting behind. Freiburg's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
