With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elias Schifferli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mathieu Lisibach during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mathieu Lisibach kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Grashoppers Club Zürich's Quintinus Wollenmann tried to score from far away in the 14th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Tony Sauerberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elias Schifferli was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Renatus Holmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Schifferli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Mike Büchel hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Markus Waltispühl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romero Baumeister in the 24th minute of the match. Dé Baba scored 1-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Markus Waltispühl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dé Baba struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Markus Waltispühl didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Eschlikon. In the 44th minute, Tony Sauerberg made a precise shot to the right of Elias Schifferli. FC Eschlikon's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Markus Waltispühl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romero Baumeister in the 48th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romero Baumeister to make the kick off. The supporters of Grashoppers Club Zürich booed when FC Eschlikon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathieu Lisibach didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elias Schifferli made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Tony Sauerberg sent off a good shot on target. Elias Schifferli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renatus Holmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Tony Sauerberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Elias Schifferli to make any attempt to save it. FC Eschlikon's Elias Schifferli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renatus Holmann in the 94th minute of play. Tony Sauerberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Grashoppers Club Zürich left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Eschlikon.
