Catana FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC AARAU the free kick. The supporters of FC AARAU booed when Catana FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pascal Wetter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dominique Joho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steffen Allemann having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Dominique Joho managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC AARAU's supporters rose to their feet, but Dominique Joho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steffen Allemann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donatello Brandini charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Donatello Brandini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th match minute, Catana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donatello Brandini to maneuver through the defense. Dominique Joho took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Steffen Allemann. Steffen Allemann dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Steffen Allemann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominique Joho in the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute Christophe Portmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keith Lejeune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Catana FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dominique Joho came free, but Steffen Allemann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steffen Allemann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amos Mändli, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute, Catana FC's Christophe Portmann dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 39 played minutes FC AARAU got a freekick which was hit by Gerd Beller. After 41 minutes, Fabrice Guibord mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catana FC and the FC AARAU players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 41 played minutes Catana FC got a freekick which was hit by Fabrice Guibord. If Amos Mändli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 47th minute, Dominique Joho made a precise shot to the right of Steffen Allemann. Catana FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Amos Mändli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steffen Allemann having to interfere. Catana FC were furious when Fabrice Guibord was red carded, 66 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. An unexpected shot in the 78th minute by Amos Mändli got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jurij Espa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keith Lejeune having to interfere. Pascal Wetter hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Timofej Mazza, 89 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a little luck, Catana FC's Steffen Allemann got control of the ball when Amos Mändli tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC AARAU walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
