Maloggia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Foster Renner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Franz Bugnon struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Kristof Büto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maloggia. Maloggia's Dean Geisseler got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dean Geisseler made a kick off. If Franz Bugnon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Franz Bugnon might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kristof Büto.
