The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Promille FC. 22 minutes into the match, Rodi FC's goalkeeper Marius Hottiger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Etienne Borghi. 25 minutes into the game, Dario Kluge was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rodi FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Promille FC the free kick. The supporters of Promille FC booed when Rodi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herbert Angelici didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Reynold Pfenniger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th minute Etienne Borghi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marius Hottiger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Promille FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Reynold Pfenniger in the 37th minute. The corner led Promille FC's Reynold Pfenniger to fire away a dangerous shot which Marius Hottiger despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Reynold Pfenniger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Promille FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Reynold Pfenniger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marius Hottiger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Herbert Angelici had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jesse Frischknecht hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Promille FC's Karl Marbach pulled a muscle in his back after 55 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Albin Wicky's late challenge caught a Promille FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albin Wicky helped the player get up and apologised. Marius Hottiger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Etienne Borghi's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Rodi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Etienne Borghi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Etienne Borghi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marius Hottiger was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Rodi FC's zone, Etienne Borghi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marius Hottiger came out of the goal and Etienne Borghi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Promille FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynold Pfenniger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Promille FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
