In the 6th minute Michiel De Vorster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thys Latomme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 played minutes Thildonk got a freekick which was hit by Willem-Jan Goebelens. Pierre-Olivier Moerman might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johannes Van der Sande. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pierre-Olivier Moerman ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Thildonk booed when KFC Excelsior Balgerhoeke was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steven De Rijck didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Malm in the 28th minute of play forced Thildonk's goalkeeper Johannes Van der Sande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michiel De Vorster to make the kick off. Michiel De Vorster hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Lander Mathy had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. KFC Excelsior Balgerhoeke's Andrew Du Bois was substituted for Lander Mathy. After 56 played minutes Thildonk got a freekick which was hit by Michiel De Vorster. Johannes Van der Sande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebbe Horemans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johannes Van der Sande stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebbe Horemans's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. If Ivan Malm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Malm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johannes Van der Sande having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Michiel De Vorster got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johannes Van der Sande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebbe Horemans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johannes Van der Sande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebbe Horemans, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After having played for 82 minutes, Sebbe Horemans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KFC Excelsior Balgerhoeke's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebbe Horemans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Sebbe Horemans sped through Thildonk's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Johannes Van der Sande. Christian Owerckx kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. A throw-in in the 91st minute of the game was made by Steven De Rijck with Ivan Malm as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Alonzo Higuera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johannes Van der Sande having to interfere. KFC Excelsior Balgerhoeke's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
