The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 9 minutes into the match, Real DGW's goalkeeper Tim-Jan Van Geestel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gregoire Allaert. Mathis Coryn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfried Van De Broeck having to interfere. In the 16th minute Artuur Van Hoegaerden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim-Jan Van Geestel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregoire Allaert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Tim-Jan Van Geestel made a huge save. A collision led to Real DGW getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Roni De Messemaekere hit a great ball. 29 minutes into the match, Real DGW's goalkeeper Tim-Jan Van Geestel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jullian Kempenaerts. Tim-Jan Van Geestel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Artuur Van Hoegaerden in the 34th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 37 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Emanuel Goosens sped through FC Rumst's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wilfried Van De Broeck. Roni De Messemaekere hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Real DGW's Matthy Kustermans seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Matthy Kustermans the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Real DGW protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Matthy Kustermans had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Real DGW! Raymond Coekx shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Artuur Van Hoegaerden was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of FC Rumst booed when Real DGW was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dreas Leenpoels didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tim-Jan Van Geestel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richy Gyselincx in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mathis Coryn in the 87th minute of play forced FC Rumst's goalkeeper Wilfried Van De Broeck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gregoire Allaert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tim-Jan Van Geestel having to interfere. A collision led to FC Rumst getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ief de Pelsmakere hit a great ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Real DGW had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
