When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Joris Vandenbosch sped through RSC Vrede's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Octaaf Deflandre. When Adorján Sugár came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the RSC Vrede fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adorján Sugár couldn't finish the play. A collision led to RSC Vrede getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Herve De Moor hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joris Vandenbosch in the 42nd minute of play forced RSC Vrede's goalkeeper Octaaf Deflandre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Qwinten Hoolemans's late challenge caught a Sporting Lokeren's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Qwinten Hoolemans helped the player get up and apologised. Max Caers struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Octaaf Deflandre didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Lokeren. Octaaf Deflandre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joris Vandenbosch in the 48th minute of play. The RSC Vrede players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sporting Lokeren were winning 0-2.

In the 55th minute Max Caers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octaaf Deflandre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Octaaf Deflandre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Caers in the 64th minute of the match. Octaaf Deflandre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Caers in the 85th minute of the match. Max Caers blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Octaaf Deflandre having to make a save. When the match was over Sporting Lokeren could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than RSC Vrede throughout the match.
