Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Carl Reuters made the kick off which started today's match. Birger Verbeeck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Joerie Van Hoeij tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Harry Christiaens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Birger Verbeeck scored 0-2 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joerie Van Hoeij, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 19 played minutes, AFC Hautrage's Bert Van Leemputt shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Timy De Raeve came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AFC Hautrage reached it. Timy De Raeve made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Reuters in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 23 minutes, Birger Verbeeck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wambeke's supporters crossed their fingers, but Birger Verbeeck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Godfried Breugelmans got free with Timy De Raeve in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Timy De Raeve made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Reuters in the 26th minute of play. Birger Verbeeck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Harry Christiaens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Sem Rymenans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wambeke's Timy De Raeve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benny Jenken in the 40th minute of play. Timy De Raeve was a little too slow when Carl Reuters got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 1-2. Wambeke's Timy De Raeve proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Wambeke from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Birger Verbeeck to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Wambeke defense, Boudewijn Gillekens kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timy De Raeve. The Wambeke fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timy De Raeve should have stopped the shot. Birger Verbeeck might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joerie Van Hoeij. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Birger Verbeeck ran back to his position shaking his head. Timy De Raeve took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Reuters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Reuters in the 67th minute of play forced Wambeke's goalkeeper Timy De Raeve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute Carl Reuters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timy De Raeve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wambeke's Albert Van Cleynenbreugel was substituted for Sylven Grootjans. An unexpectedly hard shot by Birger Verbeeck in the 82nd minute of play forced AFC Hautrage's goalkeeper Joerie Van Hoeij to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The AFC Hautrage fans cheered their team off the field, for while Wambeke had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
