FC Modave's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lessive the free kick. The supporters of Lessive booed when FC Modave was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gillis De Groot didn't get a good kick on the ball. Billie Stoorms stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wout Ombelets's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Renaud Van Eeckhout during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The tension between the Lessive and the FC Modave players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Lessive's Roger Geest got a free kick in the 37th minute. With a little luck, Lessive's Edgard De Vlaeminck got control of the ball when Jorne Deferme tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Ruben Boffin came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the FC Modave fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruben Boffin couldn't finish the play.
