But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnout Valkenaers couldn't finish the play. When Geert-Jan Van Hooveldt fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KVSK Mariakerke's protests and gave Geert-Jan Van Hooveldt a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, KVSK Mariakerke's Geert-Jan Van Hooveldt got a free kick in the 28th minute. Mateo D'Hondt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louis-Philippe Schellekens having to interfere. Philippe-Arnaud Biesen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Louis-Philippe Schellekens made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Mateo D'Hondt sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lionel Matthieu to make the kick off. Romeo Zamfir took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lionel Matthieu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute of the game, Mateo D'Hondt landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. In the 58th match minute, KVSK Mariakerke was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinard Smidts to maneuver through the defense. When Geert-Jan Van Hooveldt was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 61 minutes had been played. Arnout Valkenaers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Philippe-Arnaud Biesen came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the KVSK Mariakerke fans jumped to their feet. Philippe-Arnaud Biesen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. KVSK Mariakerke were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
