Gilles De Potter charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilles De Potter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sint-Kruis's Gilles De Potter got a free kick in the 6th minute. Laurens Roelandts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Nick Van Houtvin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurens Roelandts struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Nick Van Houtvin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Herentals. Nick Van Houtvin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jozef Horemans, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Jozef Horemans had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nick Van Houtvin. Sint-Kruis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jozef Horemans was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Nick Van Houtvin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurens Roelandts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Pierrot De Pauw's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christiaan Caers was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. During the 73rd minute of the match Gilles De Potter completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gilles De Potter a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 75th minute, Jozef Horemans fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Sint-Kruis's Nick Van Houtvin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Sint-Kruis from getting a goal against them. When Laurens Roelandts came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Herentals fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laurens Roelandts couldn't finish the play. Jozef Horemans struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Nick Van Houtvin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Herentals. Christiaan Caers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Herentals supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Herentals would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
