Phillipe Provoost stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karel-Jan Paschiers's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. After 14 played minutes Lasne got a freekick which was hit by Richy Hauwaerts. After having played for 15 minutes, Louis Wiggers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ghent Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis Wiggers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Louis Wiggers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillipe Provoost having to interfere. When Louis Wiggers came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Ghent Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Louis Wiggers couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Lasne's Richy Hauwaerts got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Ghent Academy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Richy Christiaens in the 25th minute. The corner led Ghent Academy's Richy Christiaens to fire away a dangerous shot which Phillipe Provoost despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cornelis Thielemans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Luukas Van Hallebeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karel-Jan Paschiers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillipe Provoost having to interfere. When Joey Swinnen fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lasne's protests and gave Joey Swinnen a yellow card for diving instead. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Karel-Jan Paschiers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Phillipe Provoost. Lasne's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karel-Jan Paschiers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Karel-Jan Paschiers made a kick off. If Karel-Jan Paschiers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louis Wiggers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Louis Wiggers was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 59th minute. Ghent Academy's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Phillipe Provoost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karel-Jan Paschiers in the 61st minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Ghent Academy's Phillipe Provoost threw himself towards the right post 64 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Karel-Jan Paschiers, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Lasne's zone, Louis Wiggers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phillipe Provoost came out of the goal and Louis Wiggers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 69 minutes into the match, Karel-Jan Paschiers dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Phillipe Provoost, 0-2. In the 74th minute Cornelis Thielemans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luukas Van Hallebeeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stef Steckens hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. 78 minutes into the match, Ghent Academy's Karel-Jan Paschiers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phillipe Provoost narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luukas Van Hallebeeck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richy Hauwaerts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yanniek Tubbackx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Luukas Van Hallebeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 99th minute, Nestor Vloebergh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cornelis Thielemans took the ball and in the 100 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luukas Van Hallebeeck. Luukas Van Hallebeeck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2.
