In the 16th minute Laurence Wauters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Georges-Philippe Van Caels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Joachim Van Der Heijden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ramon Ceulemans hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. When Jef Grootaerts fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ardooie's protests and gave Jef Grootaerts a yellow card for diving instead. After 22 played minutes Ardooie got a freekick which was hit by Jef Grootaerts. KFC Lennik's Tran Vanden Broucke shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 22nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gust Demarrez but with some difficulty. Jan-Pieter Grootaerts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan-Pieter Grootaerts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Georges-Philippe Van Caels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Michael Horemans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ardooie's Laurence Wauters got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Georges-Philippe Van Caels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Wauters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Koen Smolders fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Lennik's protests and gave Koen Smolders a yellow card for diving instead. After 38 played minutes KFC Lennik got a freekick which was hit by Koen Smolders. Jan-Pieter Grootaerts took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Georges-Philippe Van Caels. Georges-Philippe Van Caels dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Laurence Wauters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Georges-Philippe Van Caels having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Michael Horemans made the kick off in the second half. Jan-Pieter Grootaerts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Georges-Philippe Van Caels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 62 minutes, Claude Duchateau made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ardooie's Gust Demarrez tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Michael Horemans struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Gust Demarrez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KFC Lennik. KFC Lennik's Michael Horemans got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 71st minute, Arno Van Hoyvelt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 72 played minutes, KFC Lennik's Tran Vanden Broucke shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gust Demarrez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in KFC Lennik reached it. Gust Demarrez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Horemans in the 75th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronny Steenbecks during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gust Demarrez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Horemans, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. KFC Lennik's Georges-Philippe Van Caels proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save KFC Lennik from getting a goal against them. Claude Duchateau might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gust Demarrez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claude Duchateau ran back to his position shaking his head. After 89 played minutes KFC Lennik got a freekick which was hit by Adolf Pelegrims. The supporters of KFC Lennik booed when Ardooie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronny Steenbecks didn't get a good kick on the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
