The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SK Annekenshoek's Stephen Bosbeeck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dre Klopterop in the 5th minute of play. Yanne Wilmots fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jef Van Boxstael having to interfere. In the 16th minute Dre Klopterop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Bosbeeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yannis Van Damme's late challenge caught a Knokke's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yannis Van Damme helped the player get up and apologised. When Yanne Wilmots fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SK Annekenshoek's protests and gave Yanne Wilmots a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Knokke booed when SK Annekenshoek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yanne Wilmots didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mattheo De Kock took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stephen Bosbeeck. SK Annekenshoek's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 28 minutes into the game, when William Volle put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Knokke fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! In the 32nd match minute, SK Annekenshoek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierrot Artois to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in SK Annekenshoek's zone, Tommie Tobbackers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephen Bosbeeck came out of the goal and Tommie Tobbackers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tommie Tobbackers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Stephen Bosbeeck made a huge save. Tommie Tobbackers struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Stephen Bosbeeck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knokke. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When Yanne Wilmots came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the SK Annekenshoek fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yanne Wilmots couldn't finish the play. Jan Roscams's late challenge caught a Knokke's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jan Roscams helped the player get up and apologised. In the 61st match minute, SK Annekenshoek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Roscams to maneuver through the defense. Tommie Tobbackers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommie Tobbackers took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stephen Bosbeeck. Stephen Bosbeeck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. A collision led to SK Annekenshoek getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Pierrot Artois hit a great ball. Tommie Tobbackers took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stephen Bosbeeck. Stephen Bosbeeck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommie Tobbackers in the 84th minute of play forced SK Annekenshoek's goalkeeper Stephen Bosbeeck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute, Tommie Tobbackers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Knokke fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Tommie Tobbackers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knokke's supporters rose to their feet, but Tommie Tobbackers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Bosbeeck breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the SK Annekenshoek players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Knokke.
