Xander-Paul Geeraerts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnold Van de Wal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arnold De Mayer went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Merkem booed when Bokselaar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johannes Franckx didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eric Breugelmans made an important save on a dangerous shot by Xander-Paul Geeraerts in the 32nd minute. In the 34th minute, Xander-Paul Geeraerts ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Breugelmans was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xander-Paul Geeraerts got free with Eric Breugelmans in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bokselaar fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! Bokselaar:s Arnold Van de Wal showed great skill when he stopped Cederic Laureys:s penalty. After 44 minutes of play, Merkem's Cederic Laureys made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnold Van de Wal was left in no man's land by his defense there! 48 minutes into the match, Merkem's goal looked a bit too open when Levi Kindt came free, but Eric Breugelmans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Levi Kindt made the kick off in the second half. Arnold Van de Wal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Hoeybroeck in the 57th minute. When Merkem's Arnold De Mayer in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bokselaar's goalie prevented a goal. Arnold Van de Wal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Hoeybroeck in the 61st minute. After having played for 65 minutes, Carlos Hoeybroeck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merkem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Hoeybroeck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Bokselaar's goal looked a bit too open when Arnold De Mayer came free, but Arnold Van de Wal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cederic Laureys kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Levi Kindt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Breugelmans having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Levi Kindt in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric Breugelmans prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arnold Van de Wal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnold De Mayer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th match minute, Merkem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnold De Mayer to maneuver through the defense. Merkem's Arnold De Mayer got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the game, Merkem's Carlos Hoeybroeck nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnold Van de Wal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. When the match was over Merkem could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Bokselaar throughout the match.
