Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Arnold De Mayer started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the match, Merkem's goal looked a bit too open when Jorre Wolput came free, but Eric Breugelmans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nevele's Tibau Langhmans got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Merkem getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Arnout Van Cleijnenbruegel hit a great ball. Yelle Kempenaerts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Hoeybroeck in the 19th minute. Eric Breugelmans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tibau Langhmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 31st minute, Merkem's Arnold De Mayer dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. A collision led to Nevele getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Arsene Kindts hit a great ball. Tibau Langhmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Eric Breugelmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
The wind increased when Tibau Langhmans made the kick off in the second half. Yelle Kempenaerts didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Hoeybroeck went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. In the 54th match minute, Merkem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnout Van Cleijnenbruegel to maneuver through the defense. Tibau Langhmans in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eric Breugelmans, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Nevele's Robin Omblet got a free kick in the 60th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Merkem's zone, Jorre Wolput stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Breugelmans came out of the goal and Jorre Wolput tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tibau Langhmans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th match minute, Nevele was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brent Van der Borght to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Merkem's Eric Breugelmans got control of the ball when Arsene Kindts tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jorre Wolput received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Eric Breugelmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st match minute, Nevele was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guido Fraes to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute, Nevele's Tibau Langhmans dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. When the referee blew the final whistle, Merkem could leave the field as winners, despite Nevele having more of the ball for most of the match.
