Robbie Van der Weijden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Richy Dujardin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rolf Poels lost his temper 12 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 11th minute, one of KSV Nieuwendijk:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for KSV Nieuwendijk. Fred De Hont showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brecht Villyn in the 19th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Brecht Villyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred De Hont saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kristof Van Beylen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Fred De Hont made a huge save. KSV Nieuwendijk's Fred De Hont proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save KSV Nieuwendijk from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, KSV Nieuwendijk's Johannes Rijmenams got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Kristof Van Beylen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred De Hont having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Kristof Van Beylen took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Fred De Hont to make any attempt to save it. Richy Dujardin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robbie Van der Weijden, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. If Frits Seveneijns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Robbie Van der Weijden managed to get in a good position for a shot. KSV Nieuwendijk's supporters rose to their feet, but Robbie Van der Weijden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richy Dujardin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Robbie Van der Weijden made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Robbie Van der Weijden left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KSV Nieuwendijk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Johannes Rijmenams charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Johannes Rijmenams the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Robbie Van der Weijden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The SK Sint-Genesius-Rode supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching KSV Nieuwendijk's performance. The match ended with a win for KSV Nieuwendijk.
