Philippe De Vriendt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristof Van Beylen in the 3rd minute of the match. The supporters of SK Sint-Genesius-Rode booed when KSV Sassenhout was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jannick Berchmans didn't get a good kick on the ball. When SK Sint-Genesius-Rode's Kristof Van Beylen in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye KSV Sassenhout's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, KSV Sassenhout's Denis Maeijnaerts got a free kick in the 5th minute. If Henri Bosbeeck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. SK Sint-Genesius-Rode's Richy Dujardin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save SK Sint-Genesius-Rode from getting a goal against them. In the 24th minute, Henri Bosbeeck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Richy Dujardin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateo De Messemaekere in the 26th minute of play. KSV Sassenhout's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henri Bosbeeck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 52nd minute Frits Seveneijns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philippe De Vriendt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jannick Berchmans kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Frits Seveneijns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Philippe De Vriendt having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, KSV Sassenhout's goal looked a bit too open when Kristof Van Beylen came free, but Philippe De Vriendt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SK Sint-Genesius-Rode's zone, Henri Bosbeeck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richy Dujardin came out of the goal and Henri Bosbeeck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richy Dujardin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateo De Messemaekere in the 71st minute of play. Frits Seveneijns received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Philippe De Vriendt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Timy Helssen's late challenge caught a SK Sint-Genesius-Rode's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Timy Helssen helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, KSV Sassenhout's Timy Helssen got a free kick in the 76th minute. After some careless play in the KSV Sassenhout defense, Frits Seveneijns kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Philippe De Vriendt. The KSV Sassenhout fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Philippe De Vriendt should have stopped the shot. When Henri Bosbeeck came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the KSV Sassenhout fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henri Bosbeeck couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Henri Bosbeeck's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Richy Dujardin was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. SK Sint-Genesius-Rode's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
