Walter Clement came out of the goal and Herald De Jong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Etalle's goal looked a bit too open when Tommas Herinckx came free, but Vicente Inglebert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute, Tommas Herinckx got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vicente Inglebert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Carpenter in the 31st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Etalle's Andrew De Vaddere got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The supporters of Etalle booed when SC Merksplas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luka Wegers didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jordi Vincke fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Merksplas's protests and gave Jordi Vincke a yellow card for diving instead. When Alfons Gelens came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Etalle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfons Gelens couldn't finish the play. After 95 minutes of play, Etalle's Arnauld Van den Berge made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Walter Clement was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Merksplas eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
