In the 3rd minute, Dave Adriaens got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Birger Valkeneers came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the KAA Laneffe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Birger Valkeneers couldn't finish the play. Luka Van Huruck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Max Smet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leo Antheunis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Birger Valkeneers went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Maxime Luyten charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maxime Luyten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 20 played minutes KAA Laneffe got a freekick which was hit by Maxime Luyten. Max Smet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luka Van Huruck having to interfere. Ward Saelens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ward Saelens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Luka Van Huruck made a huge save. Tomas Van Herck charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tomas Van Herck the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of KAA Laneffe booed when AFC Vanrunkelen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Van Herck didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see KAA Laneffe's Renzo Goossens in action when he in the 38th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The supporters of AFC Vanrunkelen booed when KAA Laneffe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertus Aerts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Max Smet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Max Smet was the one to do the kick off. Ward Saelens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Luka Van Huruck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leo Antheunis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Birger Valkeneers in the 60th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Birger Valkeneers took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Leo Antheunis to make any attempt to save it. After 65 minutes, Jannick Schipmans mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFC Vanrunkelen and the KAA Laneffe players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 65 played minutes AFC Vanrunkelen got a freekick which was hit by Jannick Schipmans. Leo Antheunis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Birger Valkeneers in the 67th minute of play. If Max Smet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luka Van Huruck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ward Saelens, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Jose Tael fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Antheunis having to interfere. Birger Valkeneers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Jose Tael got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Billie Daniels fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AFC Vanrunkelen's protests and gave Billie Daniels a yellow card for diving instead. Billie Daniels hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. When the final whistle sounded KAA Laneffe left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AFC Vanrunkelen.
