Andreas Opdebeeck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emiel Vanhove went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The AFC Wilrijk fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when AFC Wilrijk's Thomas-Jan Dobbelaere looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 31st match minute, KSV Mons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vince De Lauw to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of AFC Wilrijk booed when KSV Mons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romain Jenken didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the KSV Mons defense, Emiel Vanhove kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andreas Opdebeeck. The KSV Mons fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andreas Opdebeeck should have stopped the shot. Pieter-Maarten De Mulder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pieter-Maarten De Mulder stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Goffrey Struelens might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andreas Opdebeeck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Goffrey Struelens ran back to his position shaking his head. 54 minutes into the game, Joery Inglebert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KSV Mons's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC Wilrijk the free kick. After 54 played minutes KSV Mons got a freekick which was hit by Joery Inglebert. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emiel Vanhove got free with Andreas Opdebeeck in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Andreas Opdebeeck made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Emiel Vanhove sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute Brecht Panhuyse suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Perry Calewaerts charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Perry Calewaerts the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to AFC Wilrijk getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Perry Calewaerts hit a great ball. Andreas Opdebeeck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emiel Vanhove in the 66th minute.
