The referee showed Geordy Sulem the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 13 minutes into the game, one of Lauwe:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Koningshooikt a penalty, 15 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alek Van Hoegaerden, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lauwe's Thys Marrant. 0-1. 20 minutes into the game, Koningshooikt 's Nico Leroy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thys Marrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 24th minute, Viktor Van de Loock left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lauwe fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Matteo Van Eycke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joos De Cock having to interfere. The nice shot from Matteo Van Eycke in the 35thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Joos De Cock had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Stan Laremans kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Lauwe's Geordy Van den Paenhuysen got a good chance for a goal in the 49th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Matteo Van Eycke took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joos De Cock. Joos De Cock dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Joos De Cock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geordy Van den Paenhuysen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joos De Cock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geordy Van den Paenhuysen in the 67th minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Koningshooikt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artuur Cappelsmans to maneuver through the defense. Matteo Van Eycke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alek Van Hoegaerden, 84 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Geordy Van den Paenhuysen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geordy Van den Paenhuysen in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joos De Cock saved Koningshooikt from getting behind. When Lauwe's Geordy Van den Paenhuysen in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Koningshooikt 's goalie prevented a goal. Koningshooikt 's Joos De Cock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geordy Van den Paenhuysen in the 92nd minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Koningshooikt 's Nico Leroy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thys Marrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. There was no doubt that Lauwe were the better team. Lauwe's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
