After recieving a nice pass, Zomergem's Greg Sas tried to score from far away in the 3rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Zomergem's Alex Hombroeckx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kristiaan Rijmenans in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to Zomergem getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Leo Vuerinckx hit a great ball. Guy Van Halbeeck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignace Van Beylen in the 18th minute of play. Octavian Weynants fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Hombroeckx having to interfere. Kristiaan Rijmenans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guy Van Halbeeck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Stuyck, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With a little luck, Zomergem's Alex Hombroeckx got control of the ball when Octavian Weynants tried to sneak it across the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Zomergem's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
