Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Boris De Backer got the match started through his kick off. Thobias Huygens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathijs Claes in the 7th minute of the match. Michiel Van der Goten was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Boris De Backer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. In the 12th match minute, Quartes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Herbert Rijmenams to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mathijs Claes in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thobias Huygens saved Quartes from getting behind. If Boris De Backer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrik De Swert charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrik De Swert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Quartes booed when Moerbrugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrik De Swert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Moerbrugge's Luc Kesters got a free kick in the 23rd minute. In the 25th match minute, Moerbrugge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrik De Swert to maneuver through the defense. When Boris De Backer, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 27 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Michiel Van der Goten was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 31 played minutes Quartes got a freekick which was hit by Matt Van Herendael. Jeremie Van Beneden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thobias Huygens having to interfere. In the 33rd minute Mathijs Claes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thobias Huygens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Quartes getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Harald Verdeyen hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Quartes's zone, Mathijs Claes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thobias Huygens came out of the goal and Mathijs Claes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thobias Huygens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremie Van Beneden, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. When Mathijs Claes came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Moerbrugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mathijs Claes couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeremie Van Beneden to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Mathijs Claes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee gave Moerbrugge a penalty, 58 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marnix Goris, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Quartes's Thobias Huygens. 1-1. After 65 minutes of play, Moerbrugge's Jeremie Van Beneden made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thobias Huygens was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Quartes's zone, Jeremie Van Beneden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thobias Huygens came out of the goal and Jeremie Van Beneden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mathijs Claes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathijs Claes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremie Van Beneden in the 80th minute of play forced Quartes's goalkeeper Thobias Huygens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute of the match Kristof Bekaert sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thobias Huygens skillfully saved the ball. When Mathijs Claes came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Moerbrugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mathijs Claes couldn't finish the play. When Abel Ingelbert fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quartes's protests and gave Abel Ingelbert a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th match minute, Quartes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Ingelbert to maneuver through the defense. In the 86th minute, Moerbrugge's Jeremie Van Beneden ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Thobias Huygens. Thobias Huygens yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The Moerbrugge supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Moerbrugge would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
