They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joe De Meulder made a kick off. Dennis Van Eijcke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kenny Van den Panhuijsen having to interfere. If Joe De Meulder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacq Dirickx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Godfried Iansens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Jacq Dirickx could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Godfried Iansens made a huge save. Wippendries's Godfried Iansens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Wippendries from getting a goal against them. Joe De Meulder might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kenny Van den Panhuijsen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joe De Meulder ran back to his position shaking his head. When Dirk Artois fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wippendries's protests and gave Dirk Artois a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, Jacq Dirickx got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
