Stefan De Groote showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boudewijn Goddez in the 3rd minute of the match. Boudewijn Goddez struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Stefan De Groote didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Elst. Boudewijn Goddez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Stefan De Groote managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when FC Elst's Boudewijn Goddez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 13th minute of the match Etienne Schipmans shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stefan De Groote showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Boudewijn Goddezs short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got Stefan De Groote to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. AFC Cosenberg's Stefan De Groote proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save AFC Cosenberg from getting a goal against them. Etienne Schipmans took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stefan De Groote. AFC Cosenberg's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 25 minutes into the game, Boudewijn Goddez lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Stefan De Groote. Boudewijn Goddez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stefan De Groote having to make a save. AFC Cosenberg's Stefan De Groote played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boudewijn Goddez in the 31st minute of play. With 33 minutes on the clock, Etienne Schipmans commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 33rd match minute, FC Elst was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Etienne Schipmans to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boudewijn Goddez in the 37th minute of play forced AFC Cosenberg's goalkeeper Stefan De Groote to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jacob Overloop made a kick off. When Edward Iven fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Elst's protests and gave Edward Iven a yellow card for diving instead. After 51 played minutes FC Elst got a freekick which was hit by Edward Iven. If Boudewijn Goddez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute, Boudewijn Goddez made a precise shot to the right of Stefan De Groote. AFC Cosenberg's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. FC Elst's Andy De Roest got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to AFC Cosenberg getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Yanniek Louis hit a great ball. The supporters of AFC Cosenberg booed when FC Elst was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Iven didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st minute Boudewijn Goddez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan De Groote saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Andy De Roest left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Elst fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Elst fully deserved thier win.
