Azkals CF's Arthur Huysmans got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Azkals CF's goal looked a bit too open when Thibau Wijnants came free, but Niels De Wyngaert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 minutes, Frans De Haes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Azkals CF and the KAA Hombeek players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Azkals CF fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 17th minute. Penalty! Joseph Van Hespen placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The supporters of KAA Hombeek booed when Azkals CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathijs Van Hove didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niels De Wyngaert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thibau Wijnants in the 26th minute of the match. Thibau Wijnants might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Niels De Wyngaert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thibau Wijnants ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 30th minute Thibau Wijnants shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niels De Wyngaert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Azkals CF defense, Lars Van Hoeijveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niels De Wyngaert. The Azkals CF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niels De Wyngaert should have stopped the shot. Arthur Huysmans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cesar Decoster made a kick off. Karel-Jan Scheppers hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arthur Huysmans in the 53rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arthur Huysmans in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs saved KAA Hombeek from getting behind. Cesar Decoster might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cesar Decoster ran back to his position shaking his head. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesar Decoster, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After having played for 70 minutes, Arthur Huysmans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Azkals CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arthur Huysmans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 71st minute Arthur Huysmans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Decoster, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesar Decoster in the 79th minute of the match. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind KAA Hombeek's goalkeeper Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sylven de Vleeschouwer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thibau Wijnants sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. KAA Hombeek walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
