Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steffe De Ruyter in the 6th minute of the match. Steffe De Ruyter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Tongeren's Willem Van Heurick in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye KAA Hombeek's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Steffe De Ruyter in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, KAA Hombeek's Sylven de Vleeschouwer got a free kick in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Willem Van Heurick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tongeren's supporters rose to their feet, but Willem Van Heurick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Karel-Jan Scheppers's late challenge caught a Tongeren's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karel-Jan Scheppers helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, KAA Hombeek's Karel-Jan Scheppers got a free kick in the 26th minute. Franky Ruttens took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs. KAA Hombeek's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Steffe De Ruyter notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of KAA Hombeek's Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of KAA Hombeek booed when Tongeren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnny Berchmans didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karel-Jan Scheppers got free with Richard Ryers in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tongeren's Richard Ryers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thibau Wijnants in the 37th minute of play. Steffe De Ruyter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute Willem Van Heurick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th minute, Willem Van Heurick ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Willem Van Heurick was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, KAA Hombeek's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Steffe De Ruyter fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Willem Van Heurick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johnny Berchmans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Lars Van Hoeijveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Ryers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willem Van Heurick in the 63rd minute of play forced KAA Hombeek's goalkeeper Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thibau Wijnants received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Richard Ryers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lars Van Hoeijveldt in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Richard Ryers saved Tongeren from getting behind. In the 70th minute, Willem Van Heurick made a precise shot to the right of Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs. KAA Hombeek's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Steffe De Ruyter managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Tongeren fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Ryers should have stopped the shot. Steffe De Ruyter struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tongeren. After having played for 92 minutes, Steffe De Ruyter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tongeren's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steffe De Ruyter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Steffe De Ruyter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tongeren's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
