The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an all-out effort, Vanrunkelen's Raf Colebinders threw himself towards the right post 4 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alphonse Van Aerschodt, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Raf Colebinders was a little too slow when Alphonse Van Aerschodt got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 9th minute. The score was now 1-0. After a rather tough play, Breedbroek's Hans De Coninck got a free kick in the 12th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Breedbroek's goal looked a bit too open when Alphonse Van Aerschodt came free, but Raf Colebinders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mickael Dobbeleir took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manu Nelleboedske. Manu Nelleboedske dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 37th minute, Alphonse Van Aerschodt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Raf Colebinders. The goal made the score 2-1. Breedbroek's Raf Colebinders proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Breedbroek from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alphonse Van Aerschodt to strike the kick off in the second half. Brend Smets received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Raf Colebinders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Breedbroek's Maxim Slaghmeulders got a free kick in the 58th minute. Alphonse Van Aerschodt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raf Colebinders having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Brend Smets's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raf Colebinders was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Brend Smets received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Raf Colebinders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Brend Smets had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th match minute, Breedbroek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basiel van Hacht to maneuver through the defense. Brend Smets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raf Colebinders having to interfere. Raf Colebinders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alphonse Van Aerschodt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 89 minutes into the match, Yvan Toeback notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Breedbroek's Raf Colebinders. Raf Colebinders was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vanrunkelen's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
