With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jimmy Gyselinckx in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maxim Mestdagh saved AFC Richmond from getting behind. Jimmy Gyselinckx blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maxim Mestdagh having to make a save. Maxim Mestdagh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herald De Metser, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herald De Metser's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maxim Mestdagh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Artuur Breugelmans could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Ritchie Kest made a huge save. When Artuur Breugelmans came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the AFC Richmond fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artuur Breugelmans couldn't finish the play. Ritchie Kest didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Artuur Breugelmans went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Christoph Verstuyft sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jimmy Gyselinckx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of AFC Richmond booed when KAA GENT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregory De Block didn't get a good kick on the ball.
