Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Fabrice Lanphant got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Alfons De Mees notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of SC Meeren's Joey Niewens. Joey Niewens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Brugge's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kim Vervaeck in the 12th minute. In the 17th minute, Roderik Wautiers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kobe Roockeloos in the 19th minute of play forced SC Meeren's goalkeeper Joey Niewens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joey Niewens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeroen Nilis in the 21st minute of play. Jeroen Nilis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, SC Meeren's Fabrice Lanphant ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jerom Depelsmaker. Jerom Depelsmaker yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The audience was convinced that Soren Valckeners's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joey Niewens was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Jerom Depelsmaker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabrice Lanphant in the 38th minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeroen Nilis to make the kick off. Brugge's Soren Valckeners got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeroen Nilis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Joey Niewens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jeroen Nilis came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeroen Nilis couldn't finish the play. After having played for 64 minutes, Vic Raeijmaeckers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Meeren's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vic Raeijmaeckers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeroen Nilis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joey Niewens having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Jeroen Nilis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joey Niewens was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. A hard shot 73 in the game by Kobe Roockeloos from a close distance when the talented Joey Niewens managed to make a qualified save. SC Meeren's players were relieved. After having played for 81 minutes, Kobe Roockeloos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brugge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kobe Roockeloos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, SC Meeren's Jorg Bruynincx got a free kick in the 84th minute. When Jeroen Nilis came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeroen Nilis couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Meeren's zone, Kobe Roockeloos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joey Niewens came out of the goal and Kobe Roockeloos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jeroen Nilis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Stephen Van Der Elst fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Meeren's protests and gave Stephen Van Der Elst a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Meeren getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Stephen Van Der Elst hit a great ball. Brugge's attack was well implemented in the 95th minute, but when Jeroen Nilis was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. If Kobe Roockeloos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Meeren succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Brugge had controlled the match.
