VC United's Felix Van Poucke suffered a sprained foot after 5 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After a rather tough play, East-Flanders's Dimitry den Pelsmaeker got a free kick in the 6th minute. Thierry Meynen charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thierry Meynen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for East-Flanders! The goalkeeper, Gilliam Mattheijs, was totally fooled by VC United's Benjamin Maeijnarts, who 10 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Kamiel Theuniers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilliam Mattheijs having to interfere. Kamiel Theuniers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Gilliam Mattheijs made a huge save. A collision led to East-Flanders getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Dirk Winnepenninckx hit a great ball. The supporters of East-Flanders booed when VC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicky Van Boxstael didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boris Volckaerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enzo De Cat, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Enzo De Cat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 34 minutes, Enzo De Cat managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East-Flanders's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enzo De Cat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to VC United getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Nicolaas De Kerpel hit a great ball. East-Flanders's Yvan Selleslags got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Boris Volckaerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enzo De Cat in the 39th minute of the match. The supporters of East-Flanders booed when VC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willem-Jan Wagemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thierry Meynen, 41 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kamiel Theuniers was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Enzo De Cat managed to get in a good position for a shot. East-Flanders's supporters rose to their feet, but Enzo De Cat was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boris Volckaerts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. William Van de Goor's late challenge caught a VC United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. William Van de Goor helped the player get up and apologised. After 56 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for East-Flanders! Gilliam Mattheijs had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Benjamin Maeijnarts's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 70th minute, Kamiel Theuniers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thierry Meynen was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 71st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Yvan Selleslags was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 78th minute. East-Flanders's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 80th minute, Kamiel Theuniers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boris Volckaerts came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by East-Flanders's Yvan Selleslags. But to his dismay, Yvan Selleslags quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Boris Volckaerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yvan Selleslags, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The VC United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching East-Flanders's performance. The match ended with a win for East-Flanders.
