In the 5thth minute of the game Kamiel Theuniers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Munkzwalm's Kieth De Raeve was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nicolaas De Kerpel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Kieth De Raeve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When VC United's Nicolaas De Kerpel in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A collision led to VC United getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Felix Van Poucke hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reinard Goovaers got free with Boris Volckaerts in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 24th match minute, VC United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Van Poucke to maneuver through the defense. Ief Huveneers hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Munkzwalm's zone, Nicolaas De Kerpel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kieth De Raeve came out of the goal and Nicolaas De Kerpel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kieth De Raeve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kamiel Theuniers in the 29th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Nicolas Borginions managed to get in a good position for a shot. Munkzwalm's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Borginions was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boris Volckaerts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 35 minutes, Willem-Jan Wagemans mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VC United and the Munkzwalm players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Munkzwalm booed when VC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willem-Jan Wagemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Borginions in the 37th minute of play forced VC United's goalkeeper Boris Volckaerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Munkzwalm's zone, Nicolaas De Kerpel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kieth De Raeve came out of the goal and Nicolaas De Kerpel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Nicolaas De Kerpel's late challenge caught a Munkzwalm's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicolaas De Kerpel helped the player get up and apologised. Nicolaas De Kerpel hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Kamiel Theuniers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicky Van Boxstael during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
