Octavian De Munck showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 18th minute Georges Wegers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Rompen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julien Ceulemans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Ian Rompen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dirk Panhuyse in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ian Rompen saved Herk-de-Stad from getting behind. If Georges Wegers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mark Godts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 33 minutes into the match, sv the sharks's goalkeeper Thommy Loozen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Octavian De Munck. Thommy Loozen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willy Wyns in the 35th minute of the match. Julien Ceulemans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Robbie Hemeleers's late challenge caught a sv the sharks's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robbie Hemeleers helped the player get up and apologised. Robbie Hemeleers hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. If Dirk Panhuyse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Herk-de-Stad 's goal looked a bit too open when Julien Ceulemans came free, but Ian Rompen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dirk Panhuyse to make the kick off. Ian Rompen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
