Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Guust Van der Willeghem started the match with the kick off. When Guust Van der Willeghem came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Meigem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guust Van der Willeghem couldn't finish the play. In the 6th match minute, Meigem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jurgen Portmans to maneuver through the defense. Guust Van der Willeghem received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Abraham Van Hallebeeck came out and tried to block the shot, but Guust Van der Willeghem slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joos Spoelbergs in the 17th minute of play forced Meigem's goalkeeper Maurus Leenpoels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Meigem's Guust Van der Willeghem sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abraham Van Hallebeeck narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Meigem's Janes Lanphant seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Janes Lanphant the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Meigem protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Janes Lanphant had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 21 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Meigem! If Joos Spoelbergs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gill Vincx had several of the Erquennes's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 35 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Abraham Van Hallebeeck as he didn't even see the shot coming. Meigem's Maurus Leenpoels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joos Spoelbergs in the 40th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Joos Spoelbergs made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Gino Lanckneus fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Maurus Leenpoels, passed just outside the right post. If Gill Vincx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 2-3 became the score in the 64th minute when Gino Lanckneus elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Maurus Leenpoels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joos Spoelbergs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 79 minutes into the match, Gino Lanckneus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maurus Leenpoels. Meigem's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gino Lanckneus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Joos Spoelbergs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 90th minute of the match, Gino Lanckneus got a very nice opportunity to score, but Maurus Leenpoels was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 92 played minutes Erquennes got a freekick which was hit by Regis Robijns. The Erquennes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Erquennes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
