After 15 minutes, Mathias Vandendriessche mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KSV Slotendries and the Erquennes players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, KSV Slotendries was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathias Vandendriessche to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, KSV Slotendries's goalkeeper William Libreghts had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gino Lanckneus. Karl Pluijssens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Abraham Van Hallebeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Erquennes booed when KSV Slotendries was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nick Neys didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Fredrik Thielemans in the 27th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the William Libreghts's left hand side. Erquennes's Gino Lanckneus was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 32nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 34th match minute, Erquennes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fredrik Thielemans to maneuver through the defense. In the 35th minute, Karl Pluijssens left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KSV Slotendries fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. KSV Slotendries were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Erquennes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mitch Van Geel took the corner. 43 minutes into the match, Erquennes's goal looked a bit too open when Karl Pluijssens came free, but Abraham Van Hallebeeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Erquennes's zone, Guy Milters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abraham Van Hallebeeck came out of the goal and Guy Milters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl Pluijssens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Abraham Van Hallebeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Stephan Bracke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Guy Milters made a kick off. If Guy Milters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Erquennes's Abraham Van Hallebeeck got control of the ball when Karl Pluijssens tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute Gino Lanckneus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Libreghts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Guy Milters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Erquennes's goalkeeper Abraham Van Hallebeeck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Guy Milters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abraham Van Hallebeeck having to interfere. Guy Milters was extremely unlucky when he, in the 76th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Erquennes booed when KSV Slotendries was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position.
