In the 16th minute of the match Gaetan De Tapp shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aime Everaerts showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rudi Clijsters hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Aime Everaerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gill Vincx in the 19th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guust Van der Willeghem in the 20th minute of play forced Purnode's goalkeeper Aime Everaerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dieter Olemans during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd minute, Dieter Olemans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Purnode booed when Meigem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Sabbe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurus Leenpoels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominick Toussain in the 36th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Dieter Olemans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aime Everaerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gill Vincx in the 42nd minute of the match. Herbert Morreels sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute Gill Vincx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aime Everaerts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Guust Van der Willeghem made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Meigem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kim Sabbe to maneuver through the defense. When Herbert Morreels, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 52 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Maurus Leenpoels was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Purnode's Aime Everaerts proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Purnode from getting a goal against them. Herbert Morreels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Maurus Leenpoels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Guust Van der Willeghem's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aime Everaerts was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. If Dominick Toussain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maurus Leenpoels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbert Morreels, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Gill Vincx recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aime Everaerts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gill Vincx in the 74th minute. Gill Vincx in the 77thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Aime Everaerts, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Guust Van der Willeghem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Aime Everaerts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Purnode's Dieter Olemans got a free kick in the 79th minute. After 81 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Purnode! The referee gave Meigem a penalty, 84 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gaetan De Tapp, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Purnode's Aime Everaerts. 0-1. Jurgen Portmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aime Everaerts having to interfere. Guust Van der Willeghem was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 90th minute. Meigem's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 95th minute, Herbert Morreels got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Meigem's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Van Der Veecken came free, but Maurus Leenpoels reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Meigem supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Meigem would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
