The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alex de Pelsmaker made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Bram Geerts sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Ferdinand Van Balen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alex de Pelsmaker was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Kenney Cornelis struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jeffrey Ingelborghs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KAA Petersheim. Alex de Pelsmaker made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bram Geerts in the 40th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Ferdinand Van Balen made the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Kenney Cornelis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After having played for 54 minutes, Alexandre Coosemans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KAA Petersheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Coosemans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 58 played minutes Elverdinge got a freekick which was hit by Henri-Xavier Persoens. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tijs Temmerman in the 60th minute of play forced Elverdinge's goalkeeper Jeffrey Ingelborghs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 87th minute, one of Elverdinge:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Elverdinge. The referee gave KAA Petersheim a penalty, 90 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tijs Temmerman, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Elverdinge's Jeffrey Ingelborghs. 0-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. KAA Petersheim walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
