The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michiel De Vleeschauwer in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorne Boegaert saved VC Saint-Nicolas from getting behind. Jorne Boegaert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michiel De Vleeschauwer, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Jacob Jonckers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Dreas Vrolijcx could shoot a difficult shot in the 16th minute, which Cederik Enfant however easily saved by the left post. When Jerry Hoes came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the VC Saint-Nicolas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerry Hoes couldn't finish the play. Cederik Enfant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Hoes, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Jacob Jonckers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacob Jonckers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorne Boegaert having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, VC Saint-Nicolas's goal looked a bit too open when Jacob Jonckers came free, but Jorne Boegaert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to VC Saint-Nicolas getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Jerry Hoes hit a great ball. Michiel De Vleeschauwer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Michiel De Vleeschauwer made the kick off in the second half. Cederik Enfant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dreas Vrolijcx in the 54th minute of play. VC Saint-Nicolas's Dreas Vrolijcx got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jerry Hoes scored 1-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cederik Enfant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dreas Vrolijcx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cederik Enfant having to interfere. Jerry Hoes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cederik Enfant having to make a save. If Jerry Hoes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When VC Saint-Nicolas's Jerry Hoes in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cederik Enfant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VC Saint-Nicolas. 83 minutes into the match, Gentbrugge's Michiel De Vleeschauwer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorne Boegaert narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 86th minute, Werner Huijsmans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. VC Saint-Nicolas were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gentbrugge for a fine match.
