The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Remy Jannes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spartak Lier's supporters rose to their feet, but Remy Jannes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mattias Raniers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Remy Jannes struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Mattias Raniers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spartak Lier. Spartak Lier's Cederic Haeselaers managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Andy Henrix in the 8 minute of the game. Remy Jannes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mattias Raniers having to make a save. In the 12th minute Bernd Gillekens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucjan Domala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bernd Gillekens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Lucjan Domala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Spartak Lier got a freekick which was hit by Remy Jannes. Rafael Sommers made a great header on KFC Riethof's corner, it was just that Spartak Lier's Lucjan Domala managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, Spartak Lier's Remy Jannes got a free kick in the 24th minute. Spartak Lier's Lucjan Domala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Lenoir in the 26th minute of play. Remy Jannes struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Mattias Raniers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spartak Lier. When Remy Jannes came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Spartak Lier fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remy Jannes couldn't finish the play. Bernd Gillekens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucjan Domala having to interfere. Tom Lenoir blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lucjan Domala having to make a save. Matias Meersman charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matias Meersman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Matias Meersman hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Remy Jannes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Spartak Lier's zone, Bernd Gillekens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucjan Domala came out of the goal and Bernd Gillekens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Lenoir in the 67th minute of play forced Spartak Lier's goalkeeper Lucjan Domala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 68 minutes, Tom Lenoir managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KFC Riethof's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Lenoir was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernd Gillekens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dimitri Sanders charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dimitri Sanders the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 82nd minute, Dimitri Sanders hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 87 minutes into the match, Spartak Lier's goalkeeper Lucjan Domala had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tom Lenoir. Lucjan Domala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernd Gillekens in the 97th minute of the match.
