The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Harry Schoolmeesters notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Peperhol's Tobias Bruyninckx. Tobias Bruyninckx was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 10 minutes into the game, Loid Steckens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wassegem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peperhol the free kick. After a rather tough play, Wassegem's Loid Steckens got a free kick in the 10th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Wassegem's zone, Louis Haemers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregorie Peten came out of the goal and Louis Haemers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tobias Bruyninckx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabien Geerts, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Louis Haemers struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Gregorie Peten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peperhol. Gregorie Peten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Louis Haemers, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Louis Haemers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregorie Peten having to interfere. After some careless play in the Peperhol defense, Fabien Geerts kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tobias Bruyninckx. The Peperhol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tobias Bruyninckx should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Peperhol's Carlos Roockeloos got a free kick in the 34th minute. In the 35th minute Harry Schoolmeesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobias Bruyninckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Fabien Geerts notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Peperhol's Tobias Bruyninckx. Tobias Bruyninckx was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 44th minute, Diedrik Arnoets ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregorie Peten was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. With 48 minutes on the clock, Berten Roeckeloes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 47 minutes into the game, one of Peperhol:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 1-4 came in the 51st minute when Rocky Temmerman all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Tobias Bruyninckx. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The supporters of Peperhol booed when Wassegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Geerts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martijn De Hoef charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martijn De Hoef the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 59 played minutes Peperhol got a freekick which was hit by Martijn De Hoef. Tobias Bruyninckx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry Schoolmeesters in the 62nd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Peperhol's goalkeeper Tobias Bruyninckx had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fabien Geerts. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Louis Haemers in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gregorie Peten saved Wassegem from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Louis Haemers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peperhol's supporters rose to their feet, but Louis Haemers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gregorie Peten breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wassegem's Fabien Geerts came free and shot a quick shot against goal 77 minutes in the game, fortunately Tobias Bruyninckx had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 79 minutes into the game, Maxim-Alexander De Roover was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Peperhol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wassegem the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of Peperhol:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Wassegem:s goal. 84 minutes into the match, Peperhol's Louis Haemers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gregorie Peten narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wassegem's goalkeeper Gregorie Peten, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gregorie Peten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Louis Haemers, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Wassegem's zone, Diedrik Arnoets stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregorie Peten came out of the goal and Diedrik Arnoets tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Roockeloos fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 92nd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. Harry Schoolmeesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobias Bruyninckx having to interfere. The supporters of Wassegem booed when Peperhol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robbe Van Dyck didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wassegem were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Peperhol's much stronger midfield.
